WHAT DID YOU DO TO DELIGHT LADIES?
8th March is the International Women`s Day. Ladies receive flowers, cards, perfumes and some – even car keys (I think my fantasy took me a little bit too far). Anyway – it is a warm feeling to receive a recognition as a woman today. I won`t keep you long in front of the screen with this post, please dedicate your time to the beloved ones.
As a hotelier, I am sure, every day you feel the irresistible need of surprising people around you. Not only the guests but also your colleagues. Last year, this time when I was working at the Mandarin this particular feeling did not let me fall asleep. Women`s day is coming! – explanation: a fantastic opportunity to pamper and delight is coming!
A few days before I had the idea, I had presented it to my wonderful team and they were all 100% in. We were to make personalized, handmade cards with a guest name, poem, our signatures, a photo of all boys working in the Club Lounge. I had gone to the market to get the stuff and covered all the necessary expenses. Additionally, to my surprise, my team took up the initiative, too, and had bought fresh flowers for that day. We spent 24 hours knitting, cutting, gluing, writing, printing and most of all- having unhindered fun, team building activity.
When the day came, each woman who came to the Club Lounge for breakfast received a personalized card with a flower and rewarded us with at least a genuine hug. For those who did not come – our elegant butlers sent the cards and flowers to their rooms. I cannot find the proper words to describe how incredibly happy and delighted we (my team and I) were to read all those spectacular reviews and thank you letters.
IS IT WORTH A FUSS? HOW DOES THAT BENEFIT YOUR TEAM?
Obviously it is. Let me tell you how much you, your team and the hotel gain while doing a little and gaining a lot.
First of all, from a guest`s point of view it is a “wow” activity. It proves that your service is not robotic and it is not only giving the precious recognition but it is a way of expressing sincerity & genuineness. It does truly distinguish you from other Club Lounges. Moreover, in a pampered guest grows the feeling of “returning a favour”, there you go, a high rise in positive comments on social media, surveys and reviews on influential blogs. It also consolidates the loyal relationship with the customer, furthermore, it builds the emotional connection. So, do you still hesitate?
As far as your colleagues are concerned, it is an excellent team building activity. You assign each colleague a task of making a card – this task can only be accomplished with one result – success. There are no losers here, so it stimulates the motivation and the positive feeling of accomplishment. A smashing chance to praise your colleagues! Well done! You did great! – is what you say after they finish the card. In addition, let me tell you a little secret. Let them put their names on! There is a tremendous chance that the guest will use the name in a comment! Do you know what it means to the colleague? Fame in the hotel! Re-cog-ni-tion! Don`t deprive your stars from shining!
