While daily reading news, doesn`t matter if it’s a tabloid or Forbes, you will always find an info that Jay Z or somebody else filthy rich or famous or both was spotted on a superyacht in St. Tropez. And don’t you wonder why they didn’t go to Nice, Cannes, Mallorca, Malta or Sicily etc.? So we decided to find out what makes this particular town, so tempting for celebs.
We started our trip from Antibes. Train is the most convenient option as far as travelling along the Cote d’Azur and a trip from Antibes to St. Raphael takes only 45 to 50 mins and costs 10€. From St. Raphael jump on a boat to St. Tropez – round trip costs 20€ and takes 1 hour – not bad right? So here we are approaching to the port of St. Tropez, picturesquely located in the heart of Golfe de Saint Tropez, gracefully embraced by the greenest hillsides where the sky is so blue and the sea is so dense, view itself is sinking your soul for ever.
St. Tropez is one of the most romantic places I have ever visited and I do not exaggerate. I can hardly name any other city “romantic” but this is the first adjective that comes into my mind if someone asked me “So how is St. Tropez?”. When I think now I actually find Croatian Korcula romantic too. The colors, streets, people the whole ambience, the wind in the trees, the orange roofs, the sea…
If you are looking for stunning views I have good news for you, views are breathtaking from wherever you are. The narrow streets have plenty of hidden gems so have your eyes all over your head! Even if you are not a fan of museums climbing up to the Citadel is worth the effort. The entry is only 3€ but the views from top are absolutely priceless! Another fantastic spot for taking photos is the Lighthouse in the end of Mole d`Estienne d`Orves, yes the beautiful red one. The color palette is just infinite! Similar, yet in the afternoon with a better light, view will be from Quai Hippolyte Bouchard where all the local artists present their crafts and also this would be my recommendation for souvenirs, get a tiny little painting instead of I <3 St. Tropez blingy bling panties or bag or ?! Yeah…
Luckily I don’t have to run in Victoria`s Secret fashion show this year (haha as if I ever had to run in it anyway haha) me and my bestie decided to focus on the little pleasures. We started with Place des Lices where every Tuesday and Saturday from early morning ‘Provencal’ Market starts. What can you find there clothes, books, shoes, bags but what we went for was the artisanal food from the region! Cheeses, sausages, bread, olives omg – heaven on earth! The French are indeed talented! Try the cheese with pata negra & truffles then move to the stand with sausages (Le Roi De La Bistouquette) – do not underestimate any of those bad boys and try each and every one, they are just 2€ and you will be delighted! Frank will happily assist you in selecting the best ones!
Warning! Ice creams. Warning!La Paleteria is a totally different dimension, this is Interstellar. Natural, creamy, juicy, fruity ice-creams that will last in your memory like your first donut… And you will be missing it, and you will be dreaming about it and you will be craving for it your whole life!
You can`t also leave St. Tropez without visiting Ms. Peregrine Shop with Laduree macaroons and not trying them! That would be a sin!
I am just wondering if I convinced you to make a day trip to St. Tropez… You don`t have to be rich to be there and enjoy it but I totally can imagine that St. Tropez seen from an 80 meter yacht looks absolutely better than from the Lighthouse haha! Have fun!
