Friday morning. The heat making it more difficult to get up. 30 Celsius degrees in shade.
Me and my Shanghainese friend getting ready for sightseeing. While putting on a light make up I am thinking where to eat a light and healthy breakfast. Nothing coming to my mind but last night we passed by literally packed places, called, called… Yeah, I know where, forgot the name. Let`s go there!
We came around 11 am and were directly offered a seat outside. Interior, design & ambiance of Żurawina is very cosy yet stylish. They had a buffet for 25 pln but preferred something a la carte. The breakfast a la carte menu is short, simple and with photos – all I need. All foodie booklets were clean and in good condition! I recommended my friend a pancake with poppy seed, rose jam and raisins as she wanted something polish. (yes, I know we don`t eat this normally at home, but out of all pancakes this was reminding Makowiec!) I am a breakfast egg monster so an omelet was my first and last choice, I added mushrooms, onions and feta cheese as toppings. Since it was hot I paired it with mint lemonade without sugar.
Drinks came first, I am glad it took around 10 minutes as it proves that my lemonade wasn`t from last week but super fresh.
The food came in 20-25 minutes. Cecilia`s pancake looked amazing and it totally pampered our taste buds. The balance of flavors was out of a master`s hand for sure. My omelet looked fresh, crisp and simple. It was topped with lamb`s lettuce so the color contrast of white feta, yellow base and greens was extremely tempting. I put the greens on side and than I saw a micro worm on a piece of feta. Now read what happened because all of you managers would love to have such an anticipating and attentive team members. I probably made a weird face and paused for a second to think what to do, and once I lifted my head a waiter was already by my side asking if there is anything wrong. So I just pointed out the extra piece of meat, put the feta on side and as the waiter offered many forms of compensation I rejected all of them and just thanked for attention and prompt reaction. (*dear customers, this happens in the best restaurants in the world, it just means it is all fresh and not stuffed with harmful chemicals, so please forgive the tiny ones*)
The omelet was the best omelet I have ever eaten. It was delicate, light and super tasty. My lemonade was exactly how I wanted it – the best meal we had in Warsaw. Guess what… We came on the next day and I also had the same omelet! At that time we met the manager of the place, very kind man and I couldn`t resist congratulating such a fantastic team.
While I was in full delight eating my omelet, Cecilia was enjoying the blinis with salmon. The dough tasted as if it was homemade & healthy. I definitely loved that and this will be my next time choice. If I could only advise the Chef to add a caper to it, to slightly sharpen the taste.
Żurawina – a perfect location for a healthy & light breakfast. The wonderful addition to the delightful food will definitely be the service – props for the team again!
